AURORA

YAV Senior Vocal Ensemble

Rehearses 7.45 – 10.00pm on Thursdays in the school term
Tutor: Christie Anderson

Accompanist: Rhys Madigan

This a cappella women’s ensemble caters for voices from 18 – 35 years of age.  All experienced choristers, AURORA performs a range of repertoire from early music to contemporary pop, many with arrangements done by YAV choristers.  AURORA’s project this year is a program of folk, gospel and contemporary music, entitled That Lonesome Road.   In addition to its self-promoted concerts, AURORA also performs for community events, most notably A Night for Novita, the inaugural Light the Night for the Leukaemia Foundation, and for Guide Dogs for the Blind.

In 2010 AURORA will represent Australia in Canada to participate in the Kathaumixw Festival in beautiful Powell River, British Columbia.

"THAT LONESOME ROAD", Aurora's concert series in the 2010 Adelaide International Fringe Festival received 4.5 stars from the Advertiser.

"The Chapel at The Butterfly House is the perfect setting, considering the heavenly voices of this 19-member group.

It was particularly delightful to hear the ethereal voices take on Throw Your Arms Around Me - and I almost shed a tear during the evenings magnificent highlight, Hallelujah".
