About The Choir
YAV Staff
Patrons
The four patrons of the choir are eminent South Australians Keith Conlon, Peter Combe, Julie Anthony, and Jane Doyle. Musicians in their own right, they are also powerful role models for their integrity, talent and achievements.
Founders
Deborah Munro and Margaret Lange began the choir in 1988. Deb only recently retired from all roles in YAV in 2011
Artistic Director
Christie Anderson is the Artistic Director of YAV. An experienced singer and conductor, Christie comes to YAV with a passion for choral music, ensemble singing and music as a team sport! Christie conducts YAV's senior vocal ensemble, AURORA and the First Concert Choir as well as running the Conducting program for choristers at YAV.
Choir Administrator
Corinna Freytag is your contact person for all matters organisational and financial and is the smiling face in the YAV office.
2011 Composer in Residence
YAV welcomes Annie Kwok as our inaugural Composer in Residence. Annie plans to create works for all 5 choirs and together with Annie, each YAV choir has an opportunity to perform these pieces which "belong" to them and are tailor-made for both choir and conductor.
Music Staff
Members of the YAV music staff are all highly qualified individuals who have a wonderful rapport with children and a keen sense of fun as well as great enthusiasm for choral education.

Vocal teaching
In 2010 YAV offer vocal teaching in groups or for individuals on Wednesday and Thursday evenings with soprano Desiree Frahn.

Choir Council
This group of people comprises the Artistic Director, Administrator and an annually elected parent group as well as one or two nominated members from the community. It meets once per month to overview the Choir's activities, finances and ethos. The Council acts as a consultative body and works on behalf of the Choir with the support of parent volunteers.
